Hi! I'm Sherri Arias the face behind S. Arias Creates, and I grew up in Homewood, AL. I spent much of my childhood playing outside until mom called us home, and was always amazed and inspried by nature and being outside. As far back as I can remember, I have loved to draw and paint. I attended USM and UAB where I studied Art, Art Education, Dance and Graphic Design. I have always been social and willing to host a party, but really to me a party was just an excuse to look for the perfect napkins or some unusual vase :) Besides painting, I love to arrange and design florals for events at the Studio in West Homewood. You could say I am in love with creating of any kind. I am so thankful for the opportunity to wake up each day and create something beautiful, and I'll be forever thankful God has gifted me the opportunity to share my talents with others.
WHAT INSPIRES ME?
Anything that involves color, design and creating, keeps me going to all hours of the day and night. Vintage Silver, grandmothers old lace, the family Bible, painted china, and old pottery. At the same time, I love shiplap, clean contemporary lines, and local art. I am always at the Studio painting or working in my garden at home.
A few of my favorite things...
THINGS :: Carrot cake, half and half tea, peanut butter, cats, dogs, and travel.
ARTISTS :: Mary Cassatt, Georgia O'Keeffe, Henri Matisse, and my favorite modern day artist is Kristi Rice of Momentum Designs.
PLACES :: I love the water and I love the mountains but if I had to pick the Gulf Coast and the Tetons.
WHAT I AM MOST PROUD OF?
My marriage of over 36 years and my three beautiful, successful, God loving children. It is an honor to be their mom!
I taught art to ages 5- 18 for over 25 years. While I loved the many years of pouring into and helping students create and discover their artistic ability and dreams, I am most proud now of chasing after my own dream. I'm proud of this little business I am building, and it is such a joy to be able to create work as I am inspired.
